About Barclays
With some 17 million customers and 1,700 branches, Barclays is one of the UK's best known high street banks. And our retail banking operations alone offer tremendous scope for career development. But there's more to Barclays than that. We're a hugely diverse financial services company with 144,000 employees in more than 50 countries around the world. And as such we're also investing in communities far and wide.
You can have it all
We don't believe that you should have to choose between studying and a full time job. That's why we've created the Retail Development Programme. From the beginning you'll have real responsibilities and work in-branch, while at the same time you'll study for a degree. All this combined means you'll be well on your way to becoming a future leader. And the more you show us what you're made of, the further you could go.
The Retail Development Programme
We've joined forces with the Lord Ashcroft International Business School at Anglia Ruskin University and Nottingham Business School at Nottingham Trent University. Together we've designed a programme that's got everything covered. While working in one of our branches you'll have half a day per week to study and a series of study blocks throughout the year for concentrated academic work.
As well as putting your new-found knowledge into practice right away, your experiences in branch will mean you'll learn on the job. Throughout the programme you'll work on a series of work placements as a Cashier, Personal Banker, Operational Specialist, Assistant Manager and Branch Manager.
Your support team
We have a dedicated team whose expertise extends to every aspect of Learning and Development. You'll also enjoy the support of a Buddy (someone who has previously completed the programme) and a Mentor (a more senior member of the team) who'll help you find your feet and offer advice. All in all we aim to give you a broad range of experience that will expand your horizons and balance your personal and our business needs.
Even more benefits
As well as your tuition fees being taken care of, you'll also earn a salary of £12,665 plus London weighting (max £3,550 if applicable) and enjoy great benefits such as:
21 days' holiday during your time-in-branch
Mobility allowance if you're placed within Greater London
Pension scheme
