          • Air operations, you can work as a pilot and weapons systems officer, where you will take part in flying sorties, reconnaissance, and search and rescue duties
          • Operations support, you can specialise in air traffic and aerospace battle manager or flight operations officer, you will provide target information, coordinate refuelling, digitally map terrain and plan missions
          • Engineering and logistics, you will commission new aircraft, service fleets and manage resources and supplies
          • Support services, this could be as catering, security or training, where you will provide day-to-day services for staff at RAF bases

          Some roles in the RAF will be a 9am to 5pm job, whereas other roles require that you work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.

          How much does a RAF officer travel?

          You will be deployed to anywhere in the UK and overseas; you must be prepared to spend long periods of time away from home, some as much as several months at a time.

          How much does a RAF officer get paid?

          A starting salary after training will be around £26,000. With experience, and depending on ranking, you can earn up between £31,000 and £34,000. Once you are highly experienced, you can earn up between £47,000 (flight lieutenant) and £105,250 (air commodore).

          What qualifications does a RAF officer need?

          The education requirements for this job are the minimum of 5 GCSE's at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C) and 2 A-levels. Plus, you will need to be aged 17.5 years old and over and a national of the UK or Ireland. You will need a degree for some roles in the RAF.
