Samskip is headquartered in the Netherlands but was originally founded in Iceland in 1990. Since then Samskip has produced consistent organic growth complemented by strategic acquisitions.

Multimodal and short sea network
With a turnover from its multimodal and short sea activities exceeding EUR 525 million, and transporting more than 600,000 TEUs every year Samskip Multimodal is Europe's largest multimodal and short sea container operator. The company combines short sea, rail, road and barge services into seamless, cost efficient, sustainable and reliable transport solutions for our customers. We use our own equipment and hardware in a multimodal network that spans all of Europe, including the Baltic States and Russia as well as Turkey and Central Asia.
Integrated logistics activities in the North Atlantic
Samskip's North Atlantic logistics activities include a range of fully-fledged, integrated logistics and transport services. These provide frequent sailings to/from the European mainland, UK, and Scandinavia, hi-tech cold storage, sophisticated warehousing solutions and a domestic transport system offering customers comprehensive logistics solutions. In addition, the company provides chartering, project cargo and agency services.
Worldwide temperature controlled logistics
Samskip is a major operator in the field of temperature-controlled logistics. Through Samskip Logistics, the company offers a full range of services, including ocean freight, trucking, cold storage and documentation based on its in-depth knowledge of global refrigerated transport. These services are supported by a network of offices in Europe, Asia, Australia and North and South America.
Through FrigoCare, Samskip offers its own cold storage and terminal facilities in Rotterdam, The Netherlands and in Aalesund, Norway.
Samskip's international ambient forwarding business has a global presence, handling customers' air, sea and land transport requirements on a world-wide basis.
Breakbulk and project cargo activities draw on Samskip's many years of experience and knowledge in this field, and focus mainly on European and Central Asian markets.
