About us:
China Pathways is a UK Education and Training provider whose mission is to provide study and internship opportunities in Beijing, China for students from UK Sixth Form and Higher Education institutions. It was founded in 2007 by 3 individuals with many years experience of working in the UK Tertiary Education sector at senior management level.
Our Experience / Expertise:
China Pathways works with UK University academic and careers departments to make students aware of the importance of adding a China experience to their CVs for both personal and professional development and to enhance future employability. The first group of China Pathways students began a one semester programme in Beijing on 8th September 2008 followed by 2 groups per year since that time. The variety of summer programmes were first organised in July 2009 and have been added to each year.
Career Opportunities & Training:
The China Pathways programme consists of an intensive Chinese language course in the mornings delivered at China Pathways main partner- the Beijing Language and Culture University – supplemented by a programme of practical business training combined with classes in Chinese culture.
Students are also enrolled as members of the British Chamber of Commerce in Beijing, whose facilities are used for the delivery of China Pathways’ seminars by members of the local and expatriate business community.
Finally, there is an option of a 4, 6 or 8 week internship opportunity at the end of the programme. Students can then use their newly acquired skills and knowledge to take up job opportunities in China or use the experience in applying for jobs in the UK or elsewhere, with companies keen to establish or broaden their China operations.
Our Team/Staff:
Based in Manchester and Beijing, the team consists of specialist educators, Mandarin speakers, and partners at the Beijing Language and Culture University. We also work in partnership with the British Chamber of Commerce in China and it’s Young Professional committee.
Location:
Our programmes are delivered at the Beijing Language and Culture University and students are accommodated on the campus. The campus offers a comfortable and conducive learning environment. There are 40 multi-function language labs and multi-media classrooms.
The campus has a lively international atmosphere with an international student clientele making use of the many restaurants, cafes or bars where students can eat and drink very cheaply. Sports facilities include basketball, volleyball and tennis courts as well as football and rugby pitches and an athletics track. There is also a newly built gymnasium, swimming pool and aerobic and fitness centre.
The campus offers a friendly and welcoming place to live in Beijing with good security, ready access to buses, taxis and subways to Beijing’s famous downtown business and tourist districts
Student Comments:
“It really was the most amazing experience and has changed me for the better. The only problem now is that I want to go back there as soon as possible! I am so glad I went to that careers fair in Leeds and met Paul last April.”
'The teaching staff are incredibly patient, easy to talk to and very helpful with any problems – course related or not. The level and speed of the course is exactly what I was looking for.'
‘One positive aspect of working in China is that the Chinese are more than willing to listen to ideas and to gain a Western perspective, and I have found that .. I am given a lot more responsibility and respect than I would in England considering my inexperience in the industry’
'A fantastic life-changing experience'.
"Coming to China has easily been the best experience of my life ........... I would however like to express a huge amount of gratitude in saying thank you to everyone at China Pathways, and to the staff in China that work with the China Pathways group in allowing all this to happen."
'Really really good. Mary and Echo were both there to pick me up at the airport after a long flight and helped me to the University, sorted out my accommodation, a Chinese SIM card and general information about Beijing. Could not have felt more at ease in arriving in a country where I did not understand the language'.
