£18k North West
Fuel your ambition
If you’re looking to get your engineering career off to a great start or you’re looking for an alternative to continuing in full time education, then our three year trainee engineer development programme may be just what you are looking for. There’s never been a more exciting time to join the Electricity North West and the energy industry. There are some massive changes ahead which means that powering more than 5 million customers has never been so interesting or challenging. Our driving ambition is to be ‘the leading energy delivery business’. So we’re looking for talented and motivated people from diverse backgrounds to help us create a brighter, more sustainable future. It’s a huge job. And as part of our next generation of engineers, you’ll have a big part to play.
Power your future and ours
When it comes to developing your future, we’re committed to helping you go further in life. In fact, you’ll discover a world of opportunities within our business. It takes hard work and motivation to succeed. You’ll enjoy structured development from day one, through a great range of formal training, academic study and hands-on experience. Better still, if you’re as switched on to your development as we are, we’ll help you realise all your ambitions.
Our Trainee Engineer programme is perfect for broadening your skills. You won’t just train to be a qualified Engineer; in the future you’ll train to be a leader too. Which means more opportunities further down the line. Even better, you’ll have our full support every step of the way.
Our programme lasts for 3 years and includes a combination of formal classroom training, hands-on work placement experience, and sponsorship to achieve an HNC in Electrical Engineering.
This programme requires 2 A levels at grade A*-C, one of which must be Maths and ideally Physics or an ONC in Electrical Engineering, grades Merit or Distinction.
what our current Trainees had to say about the programme:
Here’s what our current Trainees, who joined us in September 2012, had to say about the programme:
Chris Osborn
With A levels in Maths, Physics and History, the programme was a real alternative to University. I could start a professional career with hands on experience and still study at college. There’s a range of training from day one, with early taster sessions on some of the work our engineers carry out. I didn’t quite realise the size of the opportunity when I applied. I’m definitely looking for a role within the company when I complete the programme.
Sarah Morris
With A levels in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths, I saw a great opportunity to take part in a really interesting programme. I’ve really enjoyed developing my practical skills and experiencing some of the activities carried out by our craftworkers. Climbing poles in spikes is just one example of how hands-on the training is! I now plan to take every opportunity to develop my current skills and gain new ones. Not to mention progressing my career up through the ranks of the business!
