Canterbury has the strongest economy in East Kent, and boasts a strong tourism trade. The city benefits hugely from various projects including Lakesview International Business Park, Whitefriars retail development and Canterbury Enterprise Hub. Higher education is also a significant pillar to the economy and the new Business Improvement District will potentially energise the city; along with the high-speed rail network, which will bridge Canterbury's links with London and the continent.
