About the scheme Join United Utilities’ 3-year Graduate Programme in our Scientific Services team and kickstart your career Dive into a dynamic role where you’ll optimise water treatment works and ensure top-quality water for our customers. You’ll provide expert advice on treatment processes, analyse lab results, and maintain quality assurance while liaising with regulators. You’ll get the opportunity to collaborate with operational teams and engineering colleagues to apply scientific rigor across the business, whilst gaining in-depth knowledge of water supply systems and master scientific investigations to support public health and regulatory compliance. Start living your future today What will I be doing? Exploring diverse placements in water treatment, network management, data analysis, and regulatory environments. Conducting investigations to uncover the root causes of performance issues. Developing best practices by collaborating with operational colleagues. Building and managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Pursuing chartership with a relevant professional body through continuous professional development. What do I need to be successful? We require our graduates to have a minimum 2:2 accredited degree classification in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths) subject. You will also need to be: Highly numerate with competence in problem solving, analytical reasoning and statistical analysis. Able to write clear, concise, accurate scientific reports and specifications with measurable outputs. Self-motivated and be able to work on your own, and also within a multi-disciplinary team environment. Well organised with excellent planning skills, and ability to respond rapidly to the unexpected. Competent across a broad range of computing skills.
